Two new works have just been released by C. Alan Publications. A Prairie Songbook is a suite of four of the most enduring cowboy songs of the old West. The Old Chisholm Trail, Green Grow the Lilacs, Snagtooth Sal, and Yippee Ti-Yi-Yo are presented and developed with varied instrumental textures, exciting harmonic treatments, and sensitive use of percussion (Gr. 3.5, Duration 9:30). Delmar Street Rag, named for the street in St. Louis that Scott Joplin called home, starts with a classic slow tempo rage and then moves into a double time march (Gr. 3.5, Duration 4:00).
A new work, premiered this past October, titled With Wings Like Eagles is a fanfare and ceremonial march, suitable for school commencement ceremonies and other pageantries or for the concert audience. Soon to be available through C. Alan Publications, With Wings Like Eagles is a grade 5, duration 9 minutes.
Just completed is a Euphonium Concerto, dedicated to Winston Morris in celebration of his 50th year of teaching at Tennessee Tech University. The concerto will be premiered in October of 2016, with Bryce Edwards, principal euphonium of the United States Navy Band, as soloist.
