Leading OZ DJ collaborates with Matthew Hindson on Centenary Commission
The decline of Sydney's rave culture and hedonistic nightlife has been celebrated in an extraordinary new 16-minute composition for wind orchestra, co-written by Australian DJ Paul Mac and composer Matthew Hindson.
Requiem for a City was unveiled in Sydney on 7 October, the result of a commission from the Sydney Conservatorium to mark its centenary. US conductor John Lynch directed the Conservatorium Wind Orchestra with Paul Mac playing synth bass. The first movement has just been recorded for a Naxos release and is available to view on YouTube:
