International Youth Wind Orchestra

2003 IYWO pictureThe WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra (IYWO) is an ensemble of approximately 50 outstanding young musicians, ages 18 to 25, from throughout the world. The ensemble performs the finest compositions composed for the wind orchestra medium, and is conducted by internationally renowned conductors.

The IYWO performs at the Biennial Conference of the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE). This weeklong conference will be attended by hundreds of conductors, composers, performers, publishers, teachers, instrument makers and friends of wind music from many nations around the world and will include performances by some of the finest wind band/ensembles from throughout the world. The IYWO will rehearse daily and perform as part of the conference's "finale."

The World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles is a non-profit association open to all persons who have an interest in the wind band on an international level. WASBE is the only organization completely dedicated to enhancing the quality of the wind band throughout the world and exposing its members to new worlds of repertoire, musical culture, people and places. WASBE has a membership of over 1,000 people from over 50 countries.
