The 3rd Annual Acadia University Summer Conducting Symposium will be held at the Acadia University School of Music in Wolfville, Nova Scotia Canada from the 11th to the 17th of July, 2008. Featuring clinicians Mark Hopkins and Glenn Price, this program is designed to assist conductors in the development of leadership, musicianship, and communication skills from the podium. Open to band, orchestra, and choir conductors of all levels. This year, three of the most qualified participants will be invited to lead the Symposium Ensemble in a performance at the Annapolis Valley Summer Arts Festival. For more information:

UMKC Wind Band Teaching Symposium will be held at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music in Kansas City, Missouri USA from the 13th to the 18th of July, 2008. The Annual Cincinnati Conservatory of Music Conducting Workshop will be held at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA from the 22nd to the 25th of July, 2008. Applicants should submit a DVD recording of fifteen (15) minutes of performance and rehearsal if possible. If applicants are unable to submit a DVD recording, they may choose to submit a sample repertoire listing of a concert program of one hour in length. In addition, all applicants should submit a cumulative repertoire vitae and resumé alongside the completed CCM Conducting Workshop application. The Annual Canford Summer School Wind Band Conducting Course will be held at the Sherborne School in Dorset, England from the 3rd to the 10th of August, 2008. Among the conducting faculty this year will be Timothy Reynish, Mark Heron, and Philip Scott. A maximum of twenty active participants may take part in the Conducting Course. The Wind Orchestra for the Course is open to about fifty players with basically one player to a part. For more information:
