The 14^th Annual Yamaha International Seminar for Bands will be held at the Colegio Agustiniano - Salitre in Bogotá, Colombia from the 4^th to the 6^th of June, 2008. The event is sponsored annually by Yamaha Music Latin America, S.A. in Central and South America and the Caribbean to improve the quality of performance and literature of bands, and support the wind band directors and composers of the regions to improve the musical and social growth. The seminar theme: Composition With Position. The 6^th Annual Jungfrau Music Festival will be held in Interlaken, Switzerland from the 4^th to the 12^th of July, 2008. The Gala Programme includes performances by the University of Texas Wind Ensemble, Swiss Army Concert Band and the QuaDrums Percussion Ensemble. One additional pre-festival performances will given by the Big Band of the Hessischer Rundfunk from Germany. For more information:

International Marimbaphone Masterclass with Rhaphael Christen (CH) will be held in Interlaken, Switzerland from the 9^th to the 11^th of July, 2008. The masterclass will be held during the 6th Jungfrau Music Festival. For more information:

The 18^th Biennial Conference of the International Society for the Promotion and Research of Wind Music (IGEB) will be held at the Cultural Center in Echternach in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg from the 10^th to the 15^th of July, 2008. The conference will take place with the collaboration of the Luxembourg Music Federation Union Grand-Duc Adolphe and the municipality of Echternach. IGEB will be one of the first associations organizing its conference in the new cultural centre, which will be inaugurated in December 2007. This event joins musicology and musical performance. The 28^th Annual International Youth Music Festival, sponsored by the Organization for International Contacts will be held Germany from the 17^th to the 24^th of July, 2008. Since 1981 OIK organizes its own annual international music festival. Choirs, bands, jazz and folklore groups are welcome to join in to this international musical get-together. For more information:

The 28^th Biennial ISME World Conference will be held in Bologna, Italy from the 20^th to the 25^th of July, 2008. The conference theme is “Music of all Ages.” For more information:

The 1^st Annual Singapore International Band Festival will be held at the The Republic Cultural Centre, Theatre in Singapore from the 23^rd to the 27^th of July, 2008. WBASingapore (formerly WASBE Singapore) sponsors this event which includes Competition, International Band Exchange, workshops, and Outreach Programme. The Open Division 1st Prize is S$10,000. The 56^th Annual International Polyphonic Competition "Guido d’Arezzo" will be held in Arezzo, Italy from the 17^th to the 21^st of September, 2008. For more information:

The Annual International Festival of Music - Malgret de Mar will be held in Malgret de Mar, Spain from the 7^th to the 13^th of October, 2008. First, Second and Third Place prizes of 3,000, 2000, and 1,000 euros, respectively, will be awarded. For more information:

The 3^rd Biennial Concorso Bandistico Internazionale "Vallée d'Aoste" will be held in Saint-Vincent, Italy on the 18^th and 19^th of October, 2008. The contest is open to non-professional wind and brass bands from all countries. Wind bands may compete in the following categories: Excellence, 1st Category, 2nd Category, 3rd Category, and brass bands may compete in the categories Excellence and 1st Category. Bands are required to perform one compulsory work and one composition of their choice. Cash prizes ranging from €1,500 to €4,000 are being offered. A travel refund in the amount of €2,000 will be given to the first five non-Italian bands enrolling in the competition and traveling a distance greater than 400 km from Saint-Vincent. The 37^th Annual Certamen Internacional de Bandes de Música Vila d’Altea will take place on the 29^th and 30^th of November, 2008 at the Palau Altea Centre d’Arts in Altea, Spain. The contest is open to non-professional symphonic bands, which may compete in one of two categories: bands of 85 players or less, and bands of between 85 and 130 musicians. The test piece for bands of 85 player of less is Poema Polar (Joan Enric Canet). The test piece for bands of more than 85 players is Destructa Climáatica (Rafael Talens Pelló). The 14^th Biennial WASBE International Conference will be held at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio from the 5^th to the 11^th of July, 2009. The Conference will include clinics, a trade exhibition, and concerts by bands from all over the world and will be held in conjunction with the National Band Association and the Conductor’s Guild. An International Fringe Festival will be held in conjunction with World Projects International Music Productions. For more information:
