Winners of the Thelen Prize for 2012

 

 

IGEB, the International Society for the Promotion and Research of Wind Music, is proud to announce the winners of the Thelen Prize for 2012. The prize, awarded biennially, memorializes Fritz Thelen, one of IGEBs cofounders. It will be presented at the conference in Coimbra, Portugal, between July 12 and 17, 2012. 

The 2012 Screening Committee (Wolfgang Suppan (Pürgg, Austria), Raoul Camus (New York, USA), Hellmut Mahling (Mainz, Germany)) and the 2012 Selection Committee (Klaus Aringer (Graz, Austria), Robert Grechesky (Indianapolis, USA), Francis Pieters (Kortrijk, Belgium) choose the following outstanding dissertations in the field of wind music research:

David GASCHE, PhD 
La musique de circonstance pour Harmoniemusik à Vienne (1760-1820), Universities of  Vienna (A) and Tours (F), 2009 

Peter HECKL, PhD. 
W. A. Mozarts Instrumentalkompositionen in Bearbeitungen für Harmoniemusik vor 1840, Oberschützen (A), 2011

Wind bands and ensembles wishing to perform at the 2013 WASBE Conference in Valencia, Spain  (July 7-13, 2013)  should apply to the Chairperson for Conference Performances, Dennis L. Johnson before 1 May 2012. The Letter of Application should include the following supporting materials:

New WASBE Board Members

 

 

Peter Bucher (Switzerland), József Csikota (Hungary), Cynthia Johnston Turner (USA) and Phillip Scott (Great Britain) are the new elected members of the WASBE Board until 2017. New president elect is Bert Aalders (The Netherlands) who will follow Odd Terje Lysebo (Norway) in 2013 as new president of WASBE.
