Second Commission — Dance Sequence
The second WSN Commission resulted in a seven minute piece by Marco Pütz of Luxembourg aimed at a grade four level ensemble. Dance Sequence was premièred in the last week of May 2003 in Vancouver, Canada by the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble (Marc Crompton, director) and was also performed at the 2003 WASBE Conference in Jönköping, Sweden on July 4. The work is published by Maecenas Music.
Composer Info — Marco Pütz
Marco Pütz was born in Esch/Alzette, Luxembourg. He studied music (saxophone, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, conducting) in Luxembourg-City, Brussels, and Liège (Belgium). Since 1987 he has composed more than 30 works for winds. He has also composed a children's musical. In 1995, Pütz won first prize in the "International Clarinet Association Composition Contest" for his Quatour pour clarinettes and in 1997 he was awarded 2nd prize for his Concerto for Horn and Wind Band at the "2. Concorso Internationale Augusto Cagnan" in Treviso, Italy. Most of his works are published by Bronsheim-Verlag, Holland.
He has been recorded on more than fifteen CDs since 1995 (Antes-Bella Musica, Genrmany; Musica Mundana, Bronsheim, Holland). His music has been performed in Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, Latvia, Netherlands, Canada, Russia and the U.S.A. Marco Pütz is teacher of saxophone and chamber music at the Conservatory of Luxembourg. He is a member of the Luxembourg Saxophone Quartet and has played with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra since 1981.
